Comfort and Luxury

We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about. - Charles Kingsley

Our ancestors did not enjoy the comforts we do but they were equally as happy.

Our ancestors had a different set of comforts than we do. I think the same class distinction was present back then also. Those that had a cave to sleep in were held in high regards as apposed to those living on the forest floor. To be happy is a state of mind. You can choose to be or not.
